Weekend Preview - Sully

by The Commish on Thursday, September 8, 2016

The Fall season is upon us, bringing football, school, and the last gasps of summer.  The box office should feel a little pinch of the added competition, but a couple of new movies should pull away from the pack and have decent weekends.  Look for Sully to finish in first place and When the Bough Breaks to finish slightly behind.  Don’t Breathe should have enough air to keep it on the podium and finish in third place.

1. Sully $26.5 million – plane hits ducks, plane hits water, nobody dies, sounds like a wonderful 100 minutes.  On its way to $80 million

2. When the Bough Breaks $16.5 million – this one could surprise, doesn’t matter that it wasn’t screened for critics. On its way to $40 million

3. Don’t Breathe $8.5 million – will finish in the top 40 for the year.

4. The Wild Life $5.5 million – um, even my kids don’t want to see it.

5. Suicide Squad $5 million – absolutely competition.

6. Pete’s Dragon $4 million – should end around $80 million, not bad all things considered.

7. Kubo and the Two Strings $3.5 million – no way to go through life.

8. Bad Moms $3.3 million – one good pick.

9. Hell or High Water $3 million – becoming a darling.

10. Sausage Party $2.5 million – oh those hot dogs.
