Weekend Preview

by The Commish on Thursday, March 8, 2018

Four new movies (and their surprisingly bad reviews) hit theaters this weekend looking to knock Black Panther out of the top spot, unfortunately, it looks like four is a charm as we predict Marvel’s latest hero to stay in the top spot for at least one more week.  Look for A Wrinkle in Time to finish solidly in second and The Strangers 2 to murder the rest of the field and finish in third.

1. Black Panther $39.5 million – should be around $560 million by the end of the weekend and looking like it will catch the original Avengers.

2. A Wrinkle in Time $34 million – expect this to perform almost exactly like Tomorrowland, pretty sure it finishes below $100 million.

3. The Strangers 2 $11 million – looks like it will run about 50% of the original.

4. Red Sparrow $8 million – looks headed towards a $45 million total.

5. Game Night $7 million – still might roll the dice to $50 million.

6. Peter Rabbit $6.5 million – still headed to $100 million.

7. Death Wish $5.5 million – may still make it to $30 million.

8. Gringo $5 million – opening softly, finishing quietly, apologies to anyone who drafted it.

9. The Hurricane Heist $4.5 million – looks great…

10. Jumanji $3 million – will end its run higher than the original Spiderman and Jurassic Park.
