Weekend Preview

by The Commish on Thursday, July 27, 2017

Here we go with another Summer weekend with less than appealing movies.  Here’s the thing, Atomic Blonde hits theaters, but it’s rated R, Emoji counters that programing, but it has a 0 RT score.  What does this mean, well we are predicting another win for Dunkirk at the box office.

1. Dunkirk $29 million – these movies usually have good holds, expect this to keep on brand.  Dunkirk is excellent, it should be seen on the big screen, this will have good legs for the rest of the summer and should eventually flirt with the $200 mark.

2. Emoji Movie $27 million – I was once big on this movie, but it has looked so bland and now with the reviews hovering around the 1 star level, parents may keep their kids outside for another couple of weeks instead of taking in this dud.

3. Atomic Blond $22 million – looking to break through the glass ceiling, expect Blonde to come close, but fall just short of John Wick 2.

4. Girls Trip $18.5 million – it’s running ahead of last year’s surprise comedy Bad Moms, expect this to finish with a similar total.

5. Spider-Man: Homecoming $12.5 million – just keep swinging, just keep swinging.

6. War for the Planet of the Apes $10 million – just a little too dark to make as much as the previous two.

7. Valerian $8 million – bombs away!

8. Despicable Me 3 $7.5 million – I’ll be honest, I though this would hit $300 million.

9. An Inconvenient Sequel $5 million – science!

10. Baby Driver $4 million
