July Preview

by The Commish on Friday, July 7, 2017

July is certainly shaping up to be Spiderman’s homecoming as everyone’s favorite webslinger joins the Marvel universe and looks to dominate at the box office.

1. Spiderman: Homecoming $320 million – Spidey comes home to the Marvel universe and everything is right in the world.  With Ironman added to the mix, this should be the highest Spiderman box office total since the Tobey McGuire years.

2. Dunkirk $165 million – there are a lot of things going for it. Good vs. Evil, short running time, superb director, but I just wish there were some stars attached to the movie.

3. Apes 3 $155 million – could it be a little too dark, given that and the competition, we have tempted our expectations.

4. The Emoji Movie $100 million – we have its prospects as meh…

5. Atomic Blonde $71 million – don’t expect John Wick numbers, but it will certainly draw a crowd.

6. Girls Trip $65 million – is this the last chance to get a $100 million comedy this summer?

7. Valerian $55 million – I don’t think there is an audience for it.

8. The Big Sick $45 million – or is this the last chance to get a $100 million comedy this summer?

9. Wish Upon $25 million – horror, we almost forgot about you after the great start to the year.

10. An Inconvenient Sequel $20 million – not much else would’ve fit here.
