Every month we rank the top 75 movies by season.  The box office year is a moving target, so make sure to read this column every month to find out how your movies rank, and what movies you should be targeting on the waiver wire.

Winter/Spring
1. (1) Black Panther – looking like a $680 million finish, third biggest ever
2. (2) Avengers 3 – pretty excited, despite the 150-minute runtime
3. (3) Ready Player One – looks like $130 million
4. (4) Peter Rabbit – super pick for everyone
5. (5) Fifty Shades Freed
6. (8) A Quiet Place – has quietly moved up the chart, now it may break the top 5
7. (7) A Wrinkle in Time – Tomorrowland 2
8. (6) Rampage – effects look super
9. (-) I Can Only Imagine – it came out of nowhere and just keeps making money
10. (11) Game Night
11. (9) Insidious 4
12. (14) Pacific Rim 2 – will have to make noise on the international front
13. (10) Tomb Raider – maybe we weren’t ready for the remake
14. (15) I Feel Pretty – Amy Schumer moved to April
15. (12) Blockers – very interested in how it performs
16. (13) Maze Runner 3
17. (17) Red Sparrow  
18. (18) 12 Strong
19. (19) Den of Thieves
20. (22) Paddington 2
21. (23) Acrimony – excellent first weekend

Summer
1. (1) Jurassic World – can it match the original’s numbers
2. (3) Solo – up in the air on this one
3. (2) Incredibles 2
4. (4) Deadpool 2 – the buzz campaign has been excellent
5. (5) Ant Man 2 – the first one was such a novelty; can it match it?
6. (6) Mission Impossible 6 – the trailer continues to amaze me
7. (7) Hotel Transylvania 3 – could see an uptick
8. (8) Skyscraper
9. (9) Ocean’s 8
10. (10) Mamma Mia 2 – nice counter-programming  
11. (11) Equalizer 2 – after the top 10, it really is quite the mess of box office uncertainty
12. (13) Christopher Robin – nothing is assured
13. (15) Purge 4 – love the Purge series
14. (14) The Hustle
15. (18) The Spy Who Dumped Me – could there be too much happening in the trailer
16. (16) Teen Titans – this could and will surprise
17. (17) Life of the Party – Back to School
18. (19) Mile 22 – there is already talk of a spinoff
19. (12) Tag
20. (21) The Meg – we need our Summer shark fix
21. (24) Crazy Rich Asian – something new for audiences, but we need a trailer
22. (22) Uncle Drew  
23. (23) Slenderman
24. (25) Happytime Murders
25. (22) Book Club – these ensemble movies could surprise

Fall
1. (1) Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 – trailer looks great
2. (2) Wreck it Ralph
3. (3) Aquaman
4. (4) Mary Poppins Returns – wouldn’t be surprised if this ends at the top of the list
5. (6) Venom
6. (7) Grinch – the trailer is amazing
7. (8) Nutcracker – even without X-Men, November is crowded
8. (10) Mortal Engines
9. (9) Bumblebee – does anyone really want this to happen
10. (11) Alita
11. (12) Holmes & Watson
 
12. (14) Into the Spider-Man Universe
13. (15) The Predator – looking forward to an new spin on the series
